Why Are Electronic Publishing Formats Important?
Self-Publishing is an option that provides a motivated author with an alternative way to get their work in print. If a writer has a good story, one that can shed some light on a controversial topic, or offer people help to solve a widespread problem, the author has a built-in market, waiting to be tapped.
e-Book Popularity
The only country at this time to demonstrate an interest in e-Books is China. For a variety of reasons, including cost, availability, access and more, the Chinese as a nation take a common sense attitude towards e-Books.
Why won't "Mr. or Ms. Average Reader" embrace the concept?
In the Americas, the interest is just not there. Perhaps it is the absence of promotion by the major book Publishers, who have yet to lock in a profitable deal including Rights, for themselves. Despite a big push by Microsoft, the reading public, not all of who have computers, and even if they do, are more or less unaware of using them to read books.
Buying and reading habits, such as visiting bookstores, and libraries, are ingrained and unchallenged by the majority of readers.
The e-Book format is accepted by writers. But unless you are somehow involved with the writing world today, chances are you are unfamiliar with e-Books.
